A New Running Adventure Blog!

Our great friend Crystal Nipp has kept us entertained and inspired with her honest, self-deprecating and hilarious running insights before, but her newest running blog will be quite an adventure! Crystal and friends will be traveling out west to take on not one but TWO half-marathons in two of America's most historic, beautiful and MOUNTAINOUS national parks. The "Grizzly Double" includes a half-marathon in Grand Tetons National Park and the second half-marathon just a week later in Yellowstone National Park. These races should be incredible, no doubt -- but of course, it will be the entire journey and experience that is sure to bring plenty of entertaining stories.

A New Madison Training Group

Saturday Marathon Training Group

If a spring or summer marathon is on your calendar, make sure you check out Rick Smith's Saturday Marathon Training group for some good company and conversation, as well as group motivation for those long training runs. The group meets Saturday mornings and is led by Berkeley's good friend Rick Smith. The long runs are guided by the book, "Run Less, Run Faster," though varying pace groups are designed to accommodate a wide range of runners and their training plans. Rick publishes the routes on MapMyRun before each Saturday.

Besides marathoners, many others join the group on Saturdays for shorter distances -- and routes are designed to let you adjust as needed. Runs typically start and finish at a local Madison coffee shop like Starbucks, Panera, Victor Allen's or EVP for the convenience of before-run restrooms and after-run coffee, food and conversation.

Milwaukee Running Festival Network

The Milwaukee Running Festival is one of the most exciting things to happen in the Wisconsin running community in years! The inaugural event, taking place this fall, is a FULL WEEKEND of events that blend a celebration of Milwaukee's unique and vibrant neighborhoods and landmarks with a celebration of running and an active lifestyle. There are events for every age and level, from a full marathon and half-marathon to a 5k and 1-mile. The Berkeley Running Company is very excited to give its full support to this incredible event. Race Director Chris Ponteri is a longtime friend of Berkeley, and we know the event will be a tremendous success under his guidance.

Here your chance to see what all the fuss is about: Our friends at Pure Barre-Hilldale will be offering a complimentary class to Berkeley customers on Thursday, July 9. We will meet at the Berkeley store at 6:20pm -- we will take a slow warm-up jog over to Hilldale to join the 6:45 Pure Barre Class. The class is completely free, and there will be other freebies and raffles following the class. Beginning June 23
Berkeley is excited to once again announce the start of our Black Socks Running Group for all high school and college runners. Beginning June 23, this group will meet at Berkeley every Tuesday & Thursday at 8:30am for a 45-60 minute run. Led by Berkeley staff running at the collegiate level, this group will focus on helping improve and develop participants in a fun and competitive environment. Each session will be tailored to the ability of the runners in attendance, with the possibility of several groups to meet the needs of everyone.

Madison Fall Half-Marathon Training Team

Planning to run the Madison Fall Half-Marathon? Berkeley is teaming up with our friends from EVO Endurance to offer a specialized training group, beginning August 20. The 12-week, 12-session program includes coached group runs and focused clinics aimed at preparing you for a successful and enjoyable half-marathon this fall. You will have access to high-level coaching, as well as the opportunity to meet new friends in a social running environment. The program is open to runners of all levels, though participants should be running with some consistency in the weeks prior to the program start.
