Brittany Zimmerman Memorial 5k

In April 2008, the UW Community and the Zimmerman family experienced an unimaginable tragedy when Brittany Zimmerman was murdered in her downtown Madison apartment. Determined to prevent simliar tragedies, the Madison Area Crime Stoppers have partnered with the Zimmerman family to present a memorial run/walk event. Literacy Network Run/Walk

Berkeley is proud to sponsor the 19th annual Literacy Network Run/Walk. Not only is this race a long-running Madison tradition; it's an opportunity to support an organization doing great work in our community. The Literacy Network has been providing basic literacy services to adults and families in Dane County for 36 years; all funds raised through the Run/Walk support its efforts to help learners reach their goals. Events include a 5k run/walk, a 10k run/walk, and a kids' fun run featuring Bucky Badger. All participants are invited to join us for a post-race cookout with massages from Elements Therapeutic Massage, live reggae music, Johnsonville brats and Chocolate Shoppe ice cream! Rock n' Stroll 5k

Support music education in WI schools by joining in the inaugural Rock n' Stroll 5k Fun Run, hosted by the WI Center for Music Education and sponsored by Berkeley Running Company. Events include a 5k run/walk and a 1mi family stroll. Costumes are encouraged at both events, and prizes will be awarded for the best getup in each age group. Calling All Fall 2010 Participants!

Marathon & Half Marathon Training Groups Forming

Whether Chicago, Milwaukee, Quad Cities... is your first marathon or half-marathon, or you are a seasoned vet, it is always enjoyable to train with a group. Having a group opportunity is also an excellent way to be accountable and stick to your training schedule, even on those days when you have a case of the lazies.
To that end, we at Berkeley and the NRLB (No Runner Left Behind) Team are hoping to round up fall marathon and/or half-marathon registrants and organize such a training group, which would include:

1. 16-18 week training programs for beginner, intermediate, and advanced runners;
2. Weekday group running options;
3. Saturday morning long runs with pre-determined routes (all you have to do is show up! Well. . .and run really far);
4. Water and gels on long runs;
5. A cool tech shirt that will remind you how awesome you are for participating; and
6. Camaraderie and the eternal bond of friendship.
