Saturday Marathon Training Group

runners at the Green Bay marathon

If a spring or summer marathon is on your calendar, make sure you check out Rick Smith's Saturday Marathon Training group for some good company and conversation, as well as group motivation for those long training runs. The group meets Saturday mornings and is led by Berkeley's good friend Rick Smith. The long runs are guided by the book, "Run Less, Run Faster," though varying pace groups are designed to accommodate a wide range of runners and their training plans. Rick publishes the routes on MapMyRun before each Saturday.

Besides marathoners, many others join the group on Saturdays for shorter distances -- and routes are designed to let you adjust as needed. Runs typically start and finish at a local Madison coffee shop like Starbucks, Panera, Victor Allen's or EVP for the convenience of before-run restrooms and after-run coffee, food and conversation.

Join the Facebook group for weekly run announcements!

Email Rick with questions.

Berkeley Buzz

A BIG Announcement

Dream Big

If there were ever a time to dare, to make a difference, to embark on something worth doing, the time is now. Not for any grand cause, necessarily-however, for something that tugs at your heart, something that is your aspiration, something that is your dream.

You owe it to yourself to make your days here on Earth count. Have fun. Dig Deep. Stretch.

Dream Big.

Because with an idea, determination, and the right people and tools, you can do great things. Let your instincts, your intellect, and your heart guide you.

The start of something new brings the hope of something great. Anything is possible. There is only one you. And you will pass this way only once.

Berkeley, CaliforniaThrough the modification of an inspirational poem, "Dream Big," the Berkeley Running Company is excited to announce the opening of a second location in the East Bay of California -- just a few blocks from the University of California at Berkeley. We couldn't be more excited to share our innovative thoughts and retail excitement with a new community. We are going WEST!

Why Berkeley?

Shattuck Ave. signMadison is often called "the Berkeley of the Midwest," and we have always felt a strong connection with Berkeley, California -- both cities are beautiful, free-thinking, fitness-minded communities, anchored by outstanding educational institutions. Our connection with our "sister city" in California inspired the name of our original store, and our passion for our Madison community inspired us to take our first great leap in opening the original Berkeley Running Company. Today, that same community passion inspires us to take the next great leap and open our second location in the East Bay. We look forward to continuing to share our passion along the trails of Shorewood Hills, along the shores of Lake Mendota and in our store on University Avenue. And now, we look forward to sharing our passion on the Grizzly Peak Trails of the Berkeley Hills, along the shores of San Francisco Bay and in our new store at 1676 Shattuck Avenue in Berkeley.

Madison: Always Our Home

As we prepare for this new journey, we know that Madison, Wisconsin, will always be our first home, for this is where we began in 2007. We owe so much to our greater-Madison-area community, as your trust and loyalty has helped our team grow as we strive every day to provide the best retail experience for you.

All of us at the Berkeley Running Company thank you for your business, for your friendship and for sharing your own passion for an active lifestyle with us. Our goal, as always, will remain to be the Premier Running Specialty Store for the Madison -- and now Berkeley -- community.

Holiday Shoe Drive
Donate your gently used shoes!

The Berkeley Running Company is partnering with Supreme Structures for a Holiday Shoe Drive.  As many of you  know, Berkeley has always accepted your gently used shoes to help  the MORE program.   Now  in the month of December our customers in the Fitchburg area can drop their worn shoes at Supreme Structures, 2906 Marketplace Drive.

MORE gathers used shoes and sells them to raise funds for its targeted initiatives to help communities and populations in need. In particular, shoes are sold in metro area by vendors who create jobs that help improve quality of life in cities. In turn, proceeds from these sales help provide training and tools to poor rural farmers around the world.

Clean out your closet, your garage, or wherever you keep that pile of old running shoes -- and bring them in to Berkeley or Supreme Structures!

ROLLGA Foam Rollers
Now at Berkeley!

Berkeley now has a bold new product in store: The Rollga foam roller is a radical new tool for self massage. According to Rollga, the unique contoured shape delivers several benefits:
  • Avoids bone structure and contours the body
  • Massages at multiple angles and varies in pressure
  • Allows for muscle displacement
  • Allows for stability and control while rolling
  • Bypasses the joint and restores fascia
Berkeley now carries the Rollga in three colors -- each corresponding with a different hardness to achieve a different intensity of self massage.

Saucony Freedom ISO
Has just arrived at Berkeley!

The Berkeley Running Company has just received one of the most highly anticipated shoes of 2016! Saucony touts the all-new Freedom ISO as its most innovative running experience ever. The first-ever full-length EVERUN midsole gives you incredible energy return and natural feel with an extremely pared-down "barely there" upper.

Clearance Shoes

For a limited time, Berkeley's clearance shoes are now 30% off!
